Our identities: Roots
We are rooted in God, He is our hope and our source of life.
We all have our roots in something, something that defines who we are, what we do and why we do it. That thing is where we find our source of strength and the courage to continue. We are a people who are deeply aware of our own frailty but we are learning to “be like a tree planted near streams of living water”, rooted into the only thing that brings true life in death and light in darkness. Our desire is to be rooted in God himself and to be filled with the Holy Spirit as Christ was. As we find our strength from God, we begin to look and act more like him. It’s a bit like the saying ‘you are what you eat’, if we drink and find our source in God, we will be like Him and move in His power. We live this out in the everydayness of life, choosing to find our strength in God, choosing to drink the water of life. (Psalm 1:3, John 8:12)
